In 2008 the Immunization Action Coalition produced “Clear Answers and Smart Advice About Your Baby’s Shots” by Dr Ari Brown, which attempts to deal with the vaccine-autism controversy. Dr Brown is an official spokesperson for the American Academy of Pediatrics and described as a 'trusted source for child health and development'. '
Her document, is endorsed and published by the Immunization Action Coalition (IAC), a US organization funded by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the vaccine manufacturers.
It “works to increase immunization rates and prevent disease by creating and distributing educational materials for health professionals and the public that enhance the delivery of safe and effective immunization services. The Coalition also facilitates communication about the safety, efficacy, and use of vaccines within the broad immunization community of patients, parents, health care organizations, and government health agencies.”
In short, it is the public relations arm of those who are legally and ethically responsible for vaccine safety. Given this background, one might reasonably expect a comprehensive, well researched, and persuasive overview
Since the topic of vaccination is so important and because of major concerns about the accuracy of much of what this document says, Dr Andrew Wakefield, his team at Thoughtful House Center for Children, with others, have provided a detailed point-by-point response.
